Call of Duty doesn’t get worse from year to year – it just doesn’t change, as if frozen in cement. And this cement is Modern Warfare, the most important shooter of our time, reshaping the genre in its own way. For the seventh year in a row, in November, we get five hours of staged shooting – predictable but spectacular. And then we go on a long net voyage with kilstreaks, perks and other joys. All the rest does not matter. Perhaps this is the reason for the success of the series: people know what they are buying. The brainchild of Infinity Ward, Treyarch and Activision has become the brand everyone is used to. Comfortable sneakers – Converse, nice jeans – Levi’s, fun and silly shooter – Call of Duty.
